Microsoft’s new AI can simulate anyone’s voice with 3 seconds of audio
On Thursday, Microsoft researchers announced a new text-to-speech AI model called VALL-E that can closely simulate a person's voice when given a three-second audio sample. Once it learns a specific voice, VALL-E can synthesize audio of that person saying anything—and do it in a way that attempts to preserve the speaker's emotional tone.
We are getting to the point where most menial human content tasks can be done by AI. Check VALL-E here. Not as cool (yet) as ChatGPT, but still impressive. Also read Andrewcw’s 4th comment. Spooky
The company says, starting in February, it will return the Compose button (the plus sign “+”) to the front and center of the navigation bar at the bottom of the app and it will remove the Shop tab entirely.
Instagram felt it could change user behaviour. Turns out it couldn’t

Apple aiming to replace Broadcom, Qualcomm wireless chips with its own - The Register
Apple is said to be working to replace key wireless components in its devices with its own chips, a move that could see the Cupertino giant controlling most of the technology inside the smartphones and other mobile devices it makes.
Qualcomm be like: First they came for my chips, then they for my modems, then they came for me. Probably, expect some litigation in the near future
